Virtual Run – Wings of Texas 5k

MTT-Wings of Texas 5k

I know, a race review of a virtual run is kind of a crazy concept… what is there to review?  The course layout? You picked it. The non-existent aid stations? It was just a 5k you wuss! Carry water next time. The post-race entertainment? Not even going there.

All joking aside, even though this was a virtual race we did get some great swag, AND I didn’t want to pass up the chance to give props to a great bunch of folks!

Cool swag!!!

Last week Sandy, Ashley, Kayla and I participated in the virtual version of the myTEAM Triumph-Wings of Texas 5k. The 5k is an annual fundraiser for this awesome group and there are live and virtual versions of the race. Sadly, we were on the road at the time or we would have joined our friends Michelle and Rusty Jones, and Captains Charlie and Lori for the live race in Corpus Christi. Luckily we WILL get to race alongside Michelle, Rusty, Charlie, and Lori in January at the Dopey Challenge. Please check out more about Charlie and Lori’s journey to Dopey on their Facebook page.

In case you missed my previous post, the organization officially describes themselves as “an athletic ride-along program created for children, teens, adults, and veterans with disabilities who would normally not be able to experience endurance events such as triathlons or road races.” From what I have experienced, their influence and love extend WAY farther than that! Do yourself a favor and find out more about these amazing athletes. Their stories are more than inspiring, and they are definitely worthy of your support.
